Tessitura Serica Molinelli is a leader in the production of silk and mixed fabrics. We offer a diversified product range that goes from raw to finished fabric, from printing to yarn-dyed and jacquard, which are the result of continuous research that intertwines the typical Italian style.
The ACCESSORY, BEACHWARE, MEN'S CLOTHING and WOMEN'S CLOTHING divisions cover the entire product range, from fabric to finished garment, in order to satisfy all market segments and customers.

Story of a passion
Tessitura Serica Molinelli was founded in 1934, when Francesco Molinelli bought an old spinning mill in Appiano Gentile and set up the first factory there, which took on its current configuration in 1961.
At first, the production consisted of acetate fabrics, synthetic fibers and interior linings; with the advent of World War II, the production of customary fabrics was flanked by war materials, such as parachute cloths.
With the economic recovery began the diversification of production in ties and scarves, in polyester and acetate. In the early 1980s, we itroduced silk in the production of ties, synthetic fibers were no more used and we decided to ennoble our internal product.

Sustainability
TSM has always paid particular attention to environmental sustainability.
For our company, the concept of sustainability is not an attitude to follow because it is fashionable, but a principle that has been adopted for many years in the management with the reuse of weaving cones and a careful management of the disposal of waste produced in the processing cycle and packagings.
The attention to the environment around our production site is demonstrated by the soundproofing of our machinery and the maintenance of a large green area to protect neighbouring residential areas.
Our commitment has also distinguished itself towards the supply of clean energy through a photovoltaic system, one of the first systems in the area, that still guarantees considerable savings thanks to its recent modernisation.

But let's not forget the silk yarn, that has its roots in the Como silk tradition, which has brought so much prestige to our sector and also represents the best combination between man and nature. The silkworm feeds exclusively on mulberry leaves and its breeding necessarily requires the cultivation of this plant. Each hectare of mulberry tree is able to feed worms for the production of 100 kg of treated silk, but at the same time is able to absorb 200 kg of CO2. Therefore silk is the only material able to reverse the GWP, that is the quantity of carbon dioxide released into the air for the industrial transformation of a product.
Molinelli uses all types of silk, from Mulberry to Tussah and for each of these it uses both continuous filament silk and spun silk derived from waste. In the silk cycle nothing is thrown away and all by-products, such as silk bourette, are used in accordance with their features.
Our commitment is made up of a great deal of craftsmanship, a combination of silk and experience which is part of our DNA and which we wish to preserve for future generations.
